The Children of the Rising Sun school:
New partnership with Children of the Rising Sun Primary School and Orphanage
KSP is pleased to announce collaboration with board members Cathy Doherty and Hal Seifert on an upcoming project at the Children of the Rising Sun Primary School (CRS) near Malindi, Kenya. The CRS school currently serves approximately 400 students, many suffering from food insecurity and facing significant health challenges. In addition to these concerns, the school’s facilities lack essential resources needed to support the well-being and development of its students.
Recognizing these needs, the Kenyan School Project board will partner with the CRS school management committee to create a plan aimed at improving the school’s facilities and better addressing the needs of the student population.
As an initial step while a comprehensive, long-term plan is being developed, the KSP Board has committed to supporting a medical care visit to the CRS Orphanage and school. During this first phase, newly appointed KSP board members Cathy Doherty and Hal Seifert will travel to Malindi in April 2026 for a month-long visit to assess the medical, dental, and nutritional needs of the children.
Additionally, Cathy and Hal will meet with the CRS school leaders to identify and discuss future needs for the school. Further updates will be shared soon regarding the logistics of the medical visit and the fundraising efforts needed to support our forthcoming initiative.
